4th of July Weekend
Oh, how I love long weekends. It was just what both me and Jordan needed too. For the last few months, we have just been go, go, go, even on weekends and we feel like we have had no time to recover. When this holiday weekend came, we debated on going camping just us two, to Lake Powell with my family, or to just stay home and keep it simple. We decided that it was time to take a break and just relax this weekend. I didn't even take a single picture. (Sorry!) We didn't do hardly anything, and you know what? It was BLISS. When I had to go back to work yesterday, I was so refreshed and in the best spirits. I haven't felt like that in a long time. After finding out that I passed my exam last week, so much weight was lifted off of my shoulders and I was exhausted. (both physically and mentally- so was Jordan, he had to live with me! Such a good husband!) :) Anyway, our weekend was perfect for us...it went something like this:
Friday:
*Went to work
*Came home
*made a turkey roast and corn for dinner
*took Sadie on a nice evening walk
*and played video games together all night.
Saturday:
*Slept in until 9:00 am- that never happens
*Cleaned the house (it's been a mess since I've had ZERO motivation to do anything lately)
*Went grocery shopping together
*took Sadie to the park and threw her ball for her until she couldn't run anymore
*made burritos
*Watched the movie Unknown (decent movie!)
*then I read Pride and Prejudice while Jordan gamed until we went to bed.
Sunday:
*Slept in again until about 8:30- wahoo!
*Made breakfast together- hashbrowns, eggs, and pancakes
*Showered and put on some comfy clothes
*Started watching a movie, but ended up taking an afternoon nap together (glorious)
*Ate otter pops all day because it was nice and warm!
*Then had a Disney marathon while me and Jordan gamed together the rest of the night.
Monday:
*Slept in
*Took Sadie for a walk
*Started making all of the food for our BBQ (potato salad, etc.)
*Ran some errands, did a little shopping
*Jordan's mom and sister came over for a BBQ and played some games
(it was declious, we BBQed some steaks, pork skewers, had potato salad, watermelon, and a chocolate "flag" cake for dessert; which was a chocolate cake with cool whip frosting and blueberries and strawberries for the flag. Very yummy!)
(it looked very similar to this)
*We then went and sat on our front porch and with all of the awesome new firework laws, we were able to see an amazing firework show right there in my yard. It was beautiful! It went for a couple of hours too! Freakin awesome. Sadie, however, did not enjoy them. She has decided this year that she does not like fireworks and she growled at them off and on all night. Haha! It cracked me and Jordan up. She is such a silly girl.
*After the show, it was time for bed since we had work the next morning. What a great day.
I know, with the lack of pictures, this is a very boring post, but it was seriously the best weekend. Next year I'm sure we will do more activities, but this year we just needed a break- and it was GREAT. I finally feel like myself again! Come the 24th of July, we have more plans though! And I will make sure to take pictures during that holiday. :) In the meantime, I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July!
