Fall Break

This week was Fall Break for me (thank the heavens), meaning I had no school/work! For a whole week! I haven't had time off from school and work for that long in a long time, so it was very much needed. I had a wonderful week. I'm so sad that today is my last day off until Thanksgiving, but it was very nice to be able to re-group and get some stuff done that I've been waiting to get to. I'll keep this short because I have a bunch of fun pictures. Here's how my exciting week went:

Friday (Oct. 8)- Elise's birthday!! Can't believe my youngest sister is no longer a teen! haha We went to the Cheesecake factory to celebrate her's and my dad's birthday (Oct. 3). I ordered the Pumpkin Pecan cheesecake for dessert and it was delightful. I don't normally go for cheesecake, but this was amazing. (In the pictures I'm missing my grandparents as well as Josh, EJ and my mom who were also there. These are the only two photos I recieved from that day. I didn't use my own camera sorry!) :)

Saturday/Sunday (Oct. 9-10)- Did practically nothing (which was wonderful), watched a few Halloween related movies- I love Halloween time- and had my family over on Sunday to decorate Halloween cookies and watch Prince of Persia. That was so much fun! Josh and Elise got super creative with their decorating. Prince of Persia was pretty good too.

Monday (Oct.11)- I did some writing assignments that are required of me on a weekly basis for my internship, so that part wasn't so fun, but when Jordan got home from work we made dinner and dessert together. I made my first bundt cake! It was a Pumpkin bundt too, sooo yummy. I love practically anything pumpkin I swear. Then we finished the day watching Scream.

Tuesday (Oct. 12)- I took Sadie up to my parent's house and spent the day with my mom. We went to lunch, took the dogs to the park and threw the ball for them and made carmel apples. That was such a nice day!

Wed. (Oct. 13)- My mom came over in the morning to help me plant bulbs! So next Spring, I expect to have Daffodils and Tulips! I can't wait! I bought several kinds of daffodils too so they will be different colors and sizes. So fun! Then I spent the rest of the day finally reading Catching Fire! I've been finished with Hunger Games for weeks, but just have not had the time to read the second book. So I'm about 3/4 of the way done with Catching Fire now, and I love it!

Thursday (Oct. 14)- I went shopping at Platos with Brit! I always love going there! Then we went to the beauty supply and bought me some hair dye! I've been talking about dying my hair super dark (a specific color) for months and months, but have never had the courage to do it. Just so you know, in high school, I used to dye or bleach my hair ALL the time (by myself too I might add so I had no idea what I was doing really) and it got to the point where I couldn't get my hair the color I wanted and it ended up feeling stretchy like a rubber band. Terrible! After my hair got that bad, I vowed that I would never dye my hair again...and I haven't. I've only done very simple highlights and that's it. So this was scary to me! haha But I decided you only live once and to just do it...plus I was having Brit do it with good product, so it wasn't going to damage my hair. It's now a really dark brown mixed with red/violet. Soooo pretty. It turned out to be the exact color that I wanted. It was weird to see it on me at first, but now I'm loving it more and more. It will probably be this color for a while. :) What do you think??

After we did my hair, I had Jordan's mom over for homemade potato cheese soup. So yummy!! It's been fun cooking again. With little time or energy lately, I haven't been cooking as much and I miss it. I really love to cook.

Friday (Oct. 15)- I went into my old office to do some work for my grandpa for a while (I still work for him a little bit to keep some extra money coming in), then came home to read some more Catching Fire. Yay! When Jordan got home, we went and picked up something to eat and bought the movie How To Train Your Dragon and watched it for the first time. It was so cute! I loved it. Sadie has also loved having me home all day with her this week. She gets a lot of outside time when I'm home too which she loves. So cute.

Saturday (Oct. 16)- Me and Jordan just had a nice relaxing day. We took Sadie for a walk, went grocery shopping, and then went to the pumpkin patch to pick out some pumpkins! I've never been to an actual pumpkin patch before and there's a huge one right by our house, so we decided to go. Now we have a few pumpkins to carve come Halloween. Then we spent the rest of the afternoon watching Stephen King's Rose Red and playing video games together. Awesome. :)

(I put this one in because you can see my new hair really well!) :)

Now it's Sunday and all I have to do is a few writing assignments and then I'm relaxing the rest of the day to get prepped for tomorrow's early start. I'm in two new units starting tomorrow with two new supervisors. I'm feeling nervous about it, but what can ya do? I had an awesome week and that's all that matters right now! I'll just do what I gotta do starting tomorrow. I probably won't have much to blog about or much time to do so for a while so I hope everyone is having a great October and Happy Halloween soon! :)

Half Way There

Yesterday was my last day working in the first half of the semester. I'm at the HALF WAY mark! Wooooo! So happy. I had my midterm evaluation this past Thursday and it was so intimidating! I had to go in front of a committee of 6 people who "graded" me on my performance and gave me feedback, asked me questions, etc. I felt like I was going to throw up and pass out at the same time, but it actually went very well. I was so relieved when it was over. Time is actually going by pretty fast. Now I get a WHOLE WEEK off for Fall Break and then I start up again for the second half of the semester in two different units. They are going to be pretty intense (If you know what unit the PICU is, then you'll know what I mean, but I'm actually looking forward to the infant unit!)...we'll see how I do. But for now, I'm celebrating! I've made it half way through this internship and I'm doing well! I feel more and more confident every day and get very positive feedback from my supervisors. It was just meant to be. It's been tough, but worth it. I'm getting such great experience. Some people, when they think of internships- at least I have, they think of serving coffee, etc etc. That's definitely not what I'm doing. Think of it like a residency for a doctor. I'm full on doing the job...and now that nurses and doctors know who I am, I'm getting paged and called all the time saying they need me. But it's great! I'm in my CAREER now and it feels wonderful.

Anyway, so other than work, we haven't done a whole lot- just don't have the time right now. We did go to our "niece's" first birthday! (Daughter of Jordan's very best friend.) She is adorable. Can't get enough of her cute smile!

Also, I'm adding these pictures below because I just think she's the cutest thing on the planet. My cute girl has found "her spot" for when me and Jordan are gone all day working. I let her roam the house while we are gone anyway, but these last couple months she has a specific spot that she likes to hang out in. I finally got pictures of it a couple days ago. It's so hard to catch her! Her new spot is the window sill in our guest bedroom. She lays behind the curtains so she can look out the window all day long. It's so sweet. It's like her little cave. I'm glad she has a spot to feel safe in while we are gone all day. And then of course she's so excited when we get home that she doesn't leave our sides. (As seen in the last photo.)

And lastly, here are my pretty mums finally blossoming! (as well as some gorgeous lilies too) It's kind of funny, I got these flowers from my mom's friend's garden and she told me they were going to bloom a burnt orange and brown color, which I thought would look gorgeous in the fall. However, when I saw the buds start popping up, I saw pink edges, and then in bloom they were very rosy pink! It made me laugh. Oh well! I love the flowers anyway, even though they are taking over my favorite lilies. I'll just have to plant more lilies next year so they are more noticeable. haha

Oh yeah! I also finally had the chance to buy Beauty and the Beast on DVD!!! I've literally been waiting YEARS to buy it. I hate that they only release them for a short time and then pull them off the shelves for years. So frustrating. Anyway, I finally got it! Love that movie. Slowly, but surely, I am going to own all of the classic Disneys. :)
